Exercises
Superlatives compare one thing, person, or animal to the rest in terms of one characteristic (the adjective expresses that characteristic.)
1. With short (one syllable) adjectives, we add “-est”.
Example: My grandpa is the oldest person in the family.
2. For two syllable adjectives ending in “y” we change “y” for “i” and add “-est”.
Example: English is the easiest subject in my school.
3. For long adjectives (three or more syllables), we use “the most” and we don’t change the adjective.
Example: This is the most comfortable chair in the room.
The word “than” is not used in the superlative.
Irregular adjectives change completely. The most common irregular adjectives are: good, bad, and far. Their comparative forms are:
good ——–> the best
bad ——–> the worst
far ——–> the furthest/the farthest
