Exercises
Be going to
We use “be going to” to talk about future plans and intentions. When using this tense, we have to follow the pattern:
– Subject + am/is/are + going to + main verb (simple form) + complement
To make questions, we invert the order of the verb “to be” and the subject. The rest of the sentence remains the same. Remember to add the question mark at the end of the question.
– Am/Is/Are + going to + main verb (simple form) + complement?
To make negative sentences, add the word “not” after the verb “to be”.
– Subject + am/is/are + not + going to + main verb (simple form) + complement
We can make contractions: is not = isn’t / are not = aren’t
Examples:
– I am going to have dinner with Tina tonight. (affirmative statement)
– Is James going to come to the party tonight? (question)
– James is not going to come to the party tonight. (negative statement)
