Relative pronouns are words we use to make a reference to a person, animal, object or situation.
The most common relative pronouns are “who” (for people), “that” (for both objects/animals and people), and “where” (for places.)
We use relative pronouns after an object, animal, person or place to add information about that subject. Sometimes, you can use the relative pronoun after the verb to be directly.
Examples:
– The CVA is (the place) where I study English. (“the place” is optional)
– I have a friend who/ that is a singer. (both “who” or “that” are correct)
– I bought the phone that you recommended. (only “that” is correct)
